BACKGROUND: Knowledge, attitude and practices of health professionals influence the health awareness of clients presenting to the centers for health and treatment. This project was designed and conducted to increase the knowledge and improve the attitudes and practices of health professionals at all levels of the health system, towards prevention and control, as well as diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases.METHODS: The study consisted of three phases: situation analysis, intervention, and reevaluation.To perform situation analysis, we applied randomized cluster sampling and selected 2000 health workers from the target population. Identical methods were used in control and intervention communities. We designed a questionnaire and determined its reliability and validity.RESULTS: Essential training on risk factors, healthy nutrition, and ways of coping with stress and maintaining adequate physical activity were taught to the target groups via seminars integrated into the health professionals’ in-service continuing education program. The educational materials consisted of books and leaflets.CONCLUSION: Awareness, attitude and practices of health professionals affect the outcome of efforts towards prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and their risk factors both in the society, and in the health professionals’ community. Multiple educational INTERVENTIONS in this study can help to rein in non-communicable diseases.

Due to the destructive effects of natural disasters and with this in mind that our community is vulnerable to natural disasters and hazards, special attention is needed for reducing the natural disasters and their effects. Most administrative policies are faced with physical interference problem while community-based components are devoted a very great position in this field. In fact, the traditional approach focusing on retrofitting structure of city for crisis management, nowadays has challenges with real-world functions and needs other aspects of social functions which could finally provide increased levels of resiliency.DAVAM (Community Emergency Response Volunteers) is a new policy which has been implemented in recent years in the workframe of integrated crisis management relying on dimensions of social networks specific to crisis management. Findings of this research indicate that with the exception of solidarity index in DAVAM group, all other indices including responsibility, management method and organization indicators have a meaningful relationship with cognitive and behavioral components of crisis management.

Objectives In developed countries, daycare services have started to replace institutional care services since 3 decades ago, and played a major role in community-based care. The present study aimed to compare the daycare centers around the world and explore these centers in Iran. Methods & Materials The study was conducted using library research method on daycare centers in 2015. These centers were selected from the USA, the UK, China, Japan, Bahrain and Iran, using purposeful sampling method. Then, they were compared with each other. The data collection tool was a researcherdesigned checklist assessing the provided services before reviewing daycare centers and completed after the review. The researcher evaluated the online registered centers which provided daycare services to the elderly. Results Most of the elderly daycare centers in the USA are privately owned, while in countries like Bahrain and the UK, they are governmental centers. On the other hand, centers in the UK have integrated care systems that use charity and voluntary supports from NGOs as their financial resources. Financially, elderly care centers in Bahrain are completely dependent on the government. In Iran, the hybrid model is more frequently used with the private-public source of financing. Governmental organizations such as the Welfare Organization support these centers. One of the most important problems of these centers in Iran is their transportation system. Conclusion Because of the rapid aging process in Iran and transformation from a joint family to nuclear family, Iranian elderly are exposed to loneliness, isolation, and social exclusion. In this regard, community-based programs, such as daycare centers, by focusing on families and supporting them, seem appropriate programs to help prevent social isolation and exclusion of elderly people.
